Welcome to Zebra Kids Online |
Zebra Kids Inc is an organization founded to provide exposure to cultural traditions in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our main focus is to expose children to ethnic customs (dance, drumming, storytelling, poetry, tribal history, arts and crafts) as a means of promoting self-esteem, creativity and preservation of tribal customs.
The Zebra Kids project will work with children within the city school system in the Mid-Atlantic area to provide this enlightening opportunity. Funding for our programs is through generous donations from the public and grants from other organizations such as the Baltimore International Rhythm and Drumming Society and the Perk Foundation. The most recent grant from the Perk Foundation in the 2005-2006 year was geared to working with young disadvantaged boys because so many exhibit at-risk behaviors and lack positive male role models within their family and/or community. This effort was depicted in a documentary that will premiere on February 22nd at Creative Alliance in Baltimore, Maryland.
Zebra Kids Inc. promotes cultural exchange and not exclusion. If we practice this slogan we will be able to promote a child’s emotional well being and success. Let us all become an army of volunteers as we reach out to a child and open him or her up to their own creativity.
